Snapchat is adding more courses to its marketer education platform that offer free certifications in various types of direct mail.
A series of courses under the Snap Connect umbrella enables marketers to learn directly from Snapchat advertising experts.
This is a first for Snapchat, as the company explains in an announcement:
“For the first time, you are bringing our own subject matter experts into the world of Snapchat to show you how to take your direct response advertising to the next level.”
Snapchat currently offers three Snap Connect certifications that specialize by industry and region.
Marketers can learn how to use Snapchat’s direct response advertising tools to achieve the following goals:
- Drive customers to an ecommerce app or website.
- Promote an app to get more installs.
- Awareness and installation for a mobile game.
To earn a Snap Connect Certification, marketers go through a series of video-based modules that provide new insights, product solutions, creative best practices, and customer success stories.
After watching the videos, there are several knowledge reviews to be taken, followed by a final exam.
The entire process of earning a Snap Connect certification – from watching your first video to passing the final exam – is completely free.
This is in contrast to Facebook’s certification programs, where the material is free but there is a fee to take the exam.

Snap Connect Certifications
Each of the three certifications offer separate modules for North American and international marketers.
Here is an example of the ecommerce module for marketers in North America:
There are 4 courses with a length of 4 to 11 minutes. So it should take about 30 minutes to go through all of them.

At the end there is a 30-minute exam. Snapchat marketers can get a new certification in around an hour.
All certifications are roughly the same length and contain exactly the same type of courses.
Each module has courses on community insights, advertising solutions, creative strategies, and success stories.
A Snapchat Ads Manager account is required to view the content and take the exam.
Marketers with an Ads Manager account are also eligible for a certification program called Snap Focus, launched this summer.
Snap Focus Certification Program
A certification program called Snap Focus launched in June teaches marketers the basics of advertising on Snapchat.
Snap Focus has a broader scope than Snap Connect, and the material is covered in more detail on each topic.

The videos are between 9 and 33 minutes long and there is no final exam. When you complete all 6 videos, marketers will earn Snapchat Ads Manager Certification.
