How the watch time calculator works
The calculator subtracts your current public watch hours from the target, then divides what is left by the hours you add each week. It does the same for subscribers. The longer of the two numbers is your estimated time to both targets.
Watch time older than 12 months drops out of the window, so a channel that grew quickly last year may need to refresh its numbers. Treat the result as a planning tool, not a promise.
Ways to build watch hours
- Make fewer, longer videos that hold attention instead of many short ones.
- Group videos into playlists so viewers keep watching.
- Fix the first 30 seconds of every video, where most viewers decide to stay or leave.
- Use YouTube Studio retention graphs to find where people drop off.
- Support new uploads with YouTube views or watch time services from an SMM panel, and read the YouTube SMM panel page before ordering.
Services do not guarantee monetisation, because YouTube reviews every channel against its own policies.
